Hey, Welcome back to La Vie De Luka.
This week I will be discussing one of my recent sustainable purchases.
This summer I was fortunate enough to spend two weeks exploring Laos, and also revisiting Thailand, which is close to my heart as my parents met and married over there. It was extremely thought provoking embarking on a journey to a country which holds many similarities to Thailand, a country that has played a role in shaping me into the individual woman I am today. In terms of development, Laos isn’t as westernised and so resinated a raw feeling and reminded me of my childhood visits to Thailand. The pungent perfumed smells that flood my senses with joy as I stroll through the local and tourist markets appreciating what I have and how I can contribute to the lives of those around me. On this particular evening, I was meandering through the night market in Luang Prabang admiring all the handmade trinkets and souvenirs being sold on family stalls. One item which particularly caught my eye and is the focal point of this post was a tote bag made out of an old cement bag. There were several things that drew me to this rather simplistic yet mysterious bag. It appeared to have a story. The way it was reused out of something that would otherwise have been wasted fascinated me. It gave it a new personality and history. The organic qualities and local scripture made it feel special. For me there is nothing quite like the feeling of having something new and unique that nobody else has. Not only do I come away with a beautifully crafted piece of art, but also a souvenir from my travels that only I quite appreciate the meaning of.
I really do hope you enjoyed this post, I am sure I will be making several other entries along similar lines so stay posted!
Thanks you lovely bunch, till next week…
